'concrete walls'

It started in chaos and ended up in a calm horizon. Water had been running down from the roof at Kalmar Konstmuseum and the exhibition space was covered in plastic and a layer of dust from a grinding machine.  In the evening the fire-brigade sent their emergency vechicles to the art museum in the evening, why the alarm went off is not clear. The snowstorm made the city feel like a deserted place from an dystopian American movie.

How great then to spend your time with the last choices inside the building, seeing the art works in a room, trying out art works together. Trying to think that the works that I chose earlier - the ones there  finally was no room for – nobody knows which one they should be missing. I found a favourite in one of the smallest works, go try to see if you can spot the Eric Hallström… And, there are many works which has been hiding in the museum archive to explore.

I thought drilling in the concrete walls would be the ultimate challenge, it is difficult not to be able to change the choice of height or proportions to other works. But, the staff at the museum were great and when the hanging was to be done it was quick.

The setting of the works of Daniel Hoflund was made as a minimalistic stage-setting, in a late 1900th Century Art Salon and in a white cube-setting. The video was placed in the small corner-room as a surprise for the visitors.
